Overview

Lantern Society provides newborn and family care rooted in attentiveness, adaptability, and respect for the whole family.

The website needed to introduce the caregiver, explain services clearly, and create a sense of calm for parents navigating early newborn care.

The goal was to build a site that felt supportive without becoming overly clinical, and beautiful without making information hard to find. The final design centers softness, readability, and emotional clarity while guiding visitors toward learning more or reaching out.

The Challenge

Newborn care is deeply personal. Families looking for support are often tired, overwhelmed, and trying to make decisions quickly.

The site needed to communicate experience and care without feeling cold, generic, or too sales-driven.

  • Explain services clearly without overwhelming visitors
  • Build trust quickly through tone, structure, and testimonials
  • Create a visual identity that felt tender, grounded, and professional
  • Make the site easy to navigate for parents seeking help fast
  • Balance warmth with practical service information

Approach

01INFORMATION ARCHITECTURE

I structured the site around the questions a parent might have first: who is this, what kind of care is offered, can I trust them, and how do I get in touch?

The homepage moves through a simple flow: introduction, about, highlighted services, testimonials, and contact. This keeps the experience easy to scan while still giving the site emotional depth.

02 CONTENT STRUCTURE

Because the audience may be stressed, sleep-deprived, or looking for urgent support, the copy needed to stay clear and calming.

I kept the language direct, warm, and human, focusing on reassurance without overexplaining.

03 VISUAL DIRECTION

The visual direction was built around softness, care, and quiet confidence. Rather than using a corporate childcare look, the design leans into gentle imagery, calm spacing, and a warm editorial feel.

Design Decisions

TRUST & TESTIMONIALS

Testimonials were given a prominent place on the homepage because care work depends heavily on trust. This helps visitors hear directly from families who felt safe, supported, and comforted by the caregiver’s presence.

GENTLE CALLS TO ACTION

The calls to action are intentionally simple: learn more, explore services, and get in touch. I avoided overly aggressive sales language and instead used gentle prompts that match the emotional tone of the site.

ACCESSIBILITY & RESPONSIVENESS

The site was built with readable typography, clear sections, strong hierarchy, and mobile-friendly layouts. Since many parents may be browsing from their phones, the mobile experience needed to stay clean and easy to move through.

outcome

The final website gives Lantern Society a clear, trustworthy online presence that reflects the care-centered nature of the work.

Visitors can quickly understand the services, learn about the caregiver’s approach, read testimonials, and reach out without having to dig through cluttered or confusing pages.

The project strengthened the practice’s digital presence while keeping the experience soft, simple, and human.

What This Project Reinforced

  • Service websites need emotional clarity as much as visual polish
  • Trust is built through structure, pacing, and tone
  • Warm design can still be practical and easy to navigate
  • The best websites meet people in the state they are actually in
  • The biggest shift came from treating the site less like a standard service page and more like a calm entry point for families who need support, reassurance, and a clear next step.
